The Sixth Annual Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival contiunes the dream that began in 2008. This year the flower show title is "Blushing Bride."

The Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival presents A Standard Flower Show, having won top state and national awards in it’s category in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. The 2012 state and national awards will be announced in May of 2013, however the anticipation of the Flower Show Committee is very high in keeping the tradition going. The 2013 year should follow the tradition as the theme will feature the Blushing Bride Hydrangea

The flower show will be held in the beautiful rotunda of the Courthouse, 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville, Georgia 30134. It is an exquisite event featuring horticulture entries (over 450 entries in 2012). There are also design entries including table settings, bed trays, educational exhibits. In 2013, there will be a new section or category added. The new section will be called Artistic Crafts which will feature four gift wraps, four hats and four bridal bouquets.

In 2012, the flower show hosted visitors from 13 states, 65 Georgia cities and 5 foreign countries.

The event is sponsored by Ama Kanasta, Skint Chestnut, Sweetwater and Town and Country Garden Clubs of Douglas County and Co-sponsored by Douglas County Master Gardener Association.

Citizens are invited to enter horticulture specimens for judging. If you wish to participate in this event, refer to the below listed documentation for more information. If you would like to simply see a wonderful flower show as well as design entries, the flower show is free to the public.
